My split is all done painted VW L 37 single stage dupont paint. Four coats of paint were sprayed on the forst time then let cure for a few days. Then color sanded then sprayed four more coats of paint then a clear coat was sprayed on. Now both the fun and hard part putting it back together with out scraching the paint. Here are some new pics will take some more pictures of the car out in the sun when I go to the paint shop on Saturday.

If a clearcoat was applied on top of the paint, it's a two-stage system. Single stage is exactly that, just a color coat.

A true 2 stage (basecoat clearcoat) , and a single stage with clearcoat are both 2 stage yes , but with different results . 2 stage (base/clear) you have to clearcoat , or it will not shine , single stage has gloss by itself , if you clearcoat also , it gives it lots of depth and more UV protection . Looks good. You shoot it yourself or have a shop do it? You keeping it semi-stock or going wild?

I need to see it in the light before I decide whether that blue looks good on a split.

No did not do it myself! My friend owns a paint shop so I got the car painted at cost. IM going semi custom stock body with 4 wheel disc brakes and a mild 1776cc

Yes the paint looks good on a split as the paint is L 37 a factory VW color!!

I cant wait to get it done. It is driving me crazy not having my baby to drive. I have been after a split sense 1983. Wished I would have bought one back then when a restored car went for $6,000 to $12,000

Those were the days, but they are gone forever.
