| If you notice - aside from no doors - the previous owner cut into the body to lower the sill height...kind of like the original metal examples were set-up |

Ok - so as you may, or may not, know - the original 1300 engine in my Shalako took a crap and I have been working to replace it - well the replacement (Not really new) engine (1,500) is finally in the car...thanks to the help of a few friends (Lifting...carrying...moving the engine around with me).
Right now I'm waiting for the new starter cause I broke the other new starter I had ready to go...ugh. Just a little other odds and ends and I turn the key and start the, "Why won't it run?" quest...of course I could get lucky and all I will have to do it adjust the timing but - that's not likely to happen...lol

| Is that Tom behind you? It's funny how some cars look funky from some angles - that side on shot shows just how tight that cockpit is. And yet the head-on shot the car looks low and wide... and mean! |

| Yeah - the Shala does look wide and low - I have always wondered at how Dick Dean achived that "look" - something about the way the nose is contoured. ...And yeah - It can be tight inside - don't forget - it's waaaay tiny. I'm only 5' 6" I don't think anyone any taller could fit in this sucker - my seat is against the rear bulkhead so no room to place the seat any further back |

Even though it comes with a title stating that it's a "72", I don't believe it IS a "72"... Quote from the posting "Built with a ball joint front end, swing axle rear and wide 5 lug drums". Now who in their right mind would go & change to a swing axle in an IRS chassis? Esspecially that it's street "buggy".
Ahh what do I care... I'm not going to be buying it. |

| 60-64 Corvairs had swingaxles. 65-69 had IRS. That looks like its swingaxle, one or the other. |

But where is the cargo container, and is this Shala-Vette for sale? Think I recall seeing something like this in Salem, maybe it was an old carnival ride and not a Shala-Vette that I saw. |

Good reason to keep quiet about its location! :)
If you buy it, by all means, let Dick Dean's family (I think it's his son Keith that is the Shalako/Shala registrar, not sure though) know about it, and post a resto thread here on TheSamba, maybe one over at DuneBuggyArchives too. |
