View original topic: Pics of my '63 vert - Finally!

Okay, some of you have been bugging me for pics ever since I signed up. LOL!

The car is sitting exactly as I found it at a friend's house. In fact, it's still sitting there. We'll be moving over to my house in a week or two. I'll get some better pics of it then.

And here's what I hope to turn it into...

Boy do I have my work cut out for me!

Wow! You're pretty good to notice that. I sure hadn't!

Not exactly sure what all there is. I know there are a lot of parts (new and old) that are coming with the car but I won't really know what all I've got until we get it over to my house and get all of the junk out of it. For the most part I know it is a '63 vert with a '69 1600 engine.

So if the answer is no, they didn't keep those things, then I have another quesiton. Is it even worth doing at that point?

I can go two routes with this car. Either restore it (may be questionable based on your response) or finish out the Baja project.

I don't want a Baja though, so if I were to complete the Baja I would do so just to sell it and get another bug that I could do a nice resto on.

What do you think? Your opinions are highly valued since you guys have the real knowledge on these cars.

Thanks!

Cool project. Check out Ragmans 67 baja he just turned back to full fendered.

That's a VERY encouraging thread! Thanks!

Hopefully I can do as much justice to mine as Ragman is doing to his. Although I think Ragman is a little ahead of me in the mad skillz department.

Oh well. Gotta start somewhere, right?

You know Dave Harrington from Denton? If you do, he'd probably be able to give you a hand. He helped me with the welding on a yellow convertible i had a few months ago. You can see my gallery for some of the pictures. It will be a very huge project. In my opinion, and it's just that, you should make it a runner, and sell it to someone that has the time and money to restore it, or someone that just wants a hacked up vert to cruise in the summer. I had a very good starting point on my vert, and it took forever and lots of cash to make it like i wanted it. If you have the top frame, wood, windows, etc, you may be alright. If not, make it a baja and enjoy it for what it is. Hector

Unfortunately the entire top is gone. No top frame, wood, windows, etc.

The more I think about it, the more I am leaning towards what you are saying and just get it up and running again and sell it.

I hate to go that route but it may be the most plausible scenario for me as I don't want to get in too far over my head the first time around.

If I can get a couple fo bucks for a running baja that I can turn around and buy another Beetle that needs a little less work then so be it.

Got some thinking to do. I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks!!
