Saw that, too. What the heck is something that nice, for that cheap, doing on the East Coast...unless their are sins hidden behind that shiny paint.

Found some interesting items today

Plus a few NOS items

Also a pile of 50s era bug stuff, 36 horse engines, W decklid, etc. Old guy had passed away and his son was selling everything off. I found the seats up in the rafters. Apparently the old guy had a '54 bus which the city hauled off 25 years ago and the seats were stashed away before then even. And yes that is original upholstery. Now, if only I had a barndoor to put them in...

I bought a complete door with glass, vent latch, outside handle, everything for $50 yesterday. That's an OK deal...

The note was lost until Thursday when I got a call from the owner. He had put up the truck on craigslist that day then remembered my note. After looking for awhile he found it and called me. He said he had about 6-8 messages from people interested in buying sight unseen, but he'd give me first go at it since I technically was the first to inquire. That was damn cool of him and I told him I'd come look closer in the morning.

So after going over and hanging out for a few hours and checking out the bus and his awesome collection of stuff (his phone was ringing with offers the whole time), we made a deal for all the following including a not pictured set of 15" rims I'd been needing, all for less than a cheap baywindow (or very cheap split!). I am really happy with the deal and stoked to meet up with such a cool guy, in my own town too!

Just out of curiosity was that bus on a side road off !40 just west of Flag?
Was the owner a sandel salesman and have old snow skis as a fence around his house? I seem to remember that bus when we stopped by there YEARS ago. He also had a MINT SO 42 camper interior in his garage then for sale. He was pretty active in the bus communoty back in the SOTO days. I could be wrong or my memory fadding, but it just seems so familar.

Great score

That's the one, you're not mistaken. Mark was pretty big into bus collecting, but he's out of it now. He had a Thing for sale, and a pair of ambulance fans, and that's it. Good memory.

Just picked up a complete 36HP Judson setup in the box--40 miles north of here. Looks nearly unused. The belts are marked "Judson" on them. Nice set! Just over a grand for all of it. Has the instructions and a parts list. If added up individually, all of the parts of this set would have totalled over $200 back in the day--that was some BIG bucks for the 50's.

Very cool find. Looks like a 36 horse one. What are you going to run it on?

I was thinking about a 36HP on the '55 standard, but the instructions say that there isn't enough clearance on a bus (non-barndoor) to run this unless you cut out a 4" section of the support member above the engine. I won't be cutting the '55 to make this fit. Maybe I'll just save it for a barndoor---

I found a used one in a pile of junk a few months ago and was thinking the same thing until I found out it doesn't fit. I've no plans to buy a b-door, so i will use mine on my wife's '60 'vert bug. I keep hoping Wolfsburg West will come out with the pseudo Okrasa kit so I can run a 36hp in my '59 SO-23.

We'll. I finally figured out a way to get my first single cab. Awhile back a friend of mine got a new motorcycle. Coolest looking old bike I have ever seen. Turns out its a 72 honda cb 750 street bike. Real nice. Told him I liked it and that I wanted to get one. He said well you can have it my wife hates it!! Lol no way really. So I got a bike for free. Come to find out there worth some money. And needless to say my wife hates it too. So any way found a collector to give me 1200 bucks for it. Cool huh? Then found a single cab up in san fran from a real cool kid that wanted some kind of smuggler truck that's on u tube?? ...... Well now its mine. Can't WAIT to get it goin!! so after a friggin long ass drive in the truck with the wife and two dogs finally got to SF. Eight hour drive. Took my time loading it on the dolly. List of things I got. 63single cab, with straight gates, three treasure chest doors, two sets of front doors, rear deck lid. That's mostly it for that. The kid threw in single port motor, dropped and narrowed bus beam with linkage. Don't worry it gets better, two sets of early bug fenders, one rear set, one front apron and rear and to top it all off I got some bug pop outs.!OH YEAH And got out for only a 1000 bucks thanks jason in sf your the man made my long ass drive and a trailer blow out on the way home well worth the trip ;) lol[/img]
