my bus for 1500$ ? considering it was in North East, i think its a pretty damn nice deal... and the guy was very friendly. Helped us out to pull the bus, and get it on the Trailer.

arthurnugen Wed Mar 08, 2006 4:05 pm

Enkiel, I think that was a good score, for sure! Now all you need to do is put that motor in it!

That is a waaayyy-after photo although the bus was solid unbelievable solid. I did an outer rocker panel and a little bit in the cab floors.I turned every nut and bolt on the bus myself including body and paint over a 5 year period. It took that long to find someone who would part with an early westy interior. And I have been scrounging parts ever since. Unfortunately i dont have any before-photos digitally. It was definitely a big project, especially trying to recreate the westy interior. It is incomplete in the photo and I have found lots for stuff since then.... I love pressed bumpers and third brakelight decklids....

Take care

i was browsing the classifieds one day, and i saw this kombi that was not molested and still had original paint. a rare thing it seems around my area. it was listed for 1000 obo. i quickly emailed the guy to see if he still had it. i was very suprised to hear that he did. i called him the next day, and we talked for a while and struck up a deal. i wasn't even looking for another car, but i could not pass this one up! :P he held the bus for a week, and i made the trip to go get it. i traded some parts i wasn't using and gave him 5 $100 bills. the bus was mine. the fellow i bought the bus from was super nice, and helped me load the bus onto the tow dolly. i got it home and cleaned it up, and installed the engine and other needed parts. it does have some rot in the floors, but nothing a welder can't handle. the frame is gorgeous. i don't usually find a deal, or something i don't feel bad about afterwards, but getting this bus hasn't made me frown yet. i love it.

Is that the one from up near Greenville?
if so, that is a damn nice bus.

The bus in my avatar is a 54 BD that I bought for cheap.

That's not that big of a score, the guy who sold it to me bought it for $100.

That's it! I took it for a spin today and people were breaking their necks to check it out. either it made them happy or they were laughing their asses off at me. it's all good.

I bought a GORGEOUS original green middle seat from an early sand/palm green bus about 2 years ago for $100. A parts delivery guy came into the shop knowing I was into buses and said "my friends dad has an old seat from one of those" and the rest is history.

My most recent "score" was from an ebay deal & a fellow samba member. To make a long story short, a samba member really suprised the hell out of me and we made a great deal that ended up good for both of us. I ended up with an Enders 9065D :) He knows who he is... thanks again!

I have also gotten some smokin deals off of thesamba... its all about being in the right place, at the right time.

Another good one I bought I dont' have pics for.... '59 Factory Refrigeration Panel. $25 but I lagged in picking it up and only ended up with a bunch of parts. The coolest part on the van was the VW logo ... I will have to dig it out after we finish moving and take some pics.. It said something like Friedberg/Kohlwagen. with a VW enblem.. Super rare... Only reefer truck I have ever seen, I think i read somewhere they were available in Europe and Canada only?

Bought my single cab with double treasure doors I just posted for $1000.00 all OG with two boxes of spare parts and two new old stock jerry cans with a new unused funnel. I thought I did pretty good, fired right up after 11 years of sitting, idled after clean gas got into the cylinders.[/img]

I got this bus for.........FREE!

It looks WAY better than this now, most of the rust has been replaced, and it sleeps every night in my garage, waiting for me to get off my duff and do some work on it.

I love free busses!
