I have a very similar looking hitch that I mocked up under a split bus and it seemed too short. So I mocked it up under my '69 beetle and that's where it seems to fit. In the spirit of having more garage space I was going to try and figure out what it's worth and sell it.
I also have a cross piece that I think is for a bus hitch, attaches to bumper brackets.

i believe he said it was short so perhaps it is for a bug? lamo if it is and looking through the accessories could take days.so i wonder what the measurements differences are on the 2

Scored this nice Type 2 hitch today. It looks exactly like the one in the accessories brochure that Clara posted. It's pretty short as it mounts from the frame horns by the engine and bolts to the bumper bracket mounts at the bumper. Looks pretty sweet and has tons of patina.

Nice! It's the heavy duty version.

Another quality product from Gibbes manufacturing Co., maker of side steps and other goodies too.

Nah, maybe something else, actually it was Nimrod. Now I have three different bus hitches to go with my three different buses. I might have to install them all....

I know this is from awhile back but I just fitted a a Peka (VW stamped) euro hitch to my single cab, if anything its to long. I had to drill new holes for the torsion u bolts and brought them in putting the inner hole for the beetle sized U bolt about the center of where the the Type 2 torsion now sits, and I could have went farther in for a better fit at the bumper.

Wouldn't want one of those wimpy noodle hitches pulling a real load.

I'm going to R&R my engine this winter and I'll post some pic's of my hitch.
My hitch also clears a Berg 3.5 quart sump and dual QP exhaust, but it has no VW logo....

You know, it wouldn't be too long if you had a stinger poking out the rear of your truck!!! :D

Is there a tow hitch out there that clears a header with a dual quiet pack? Any pictures or links would be greatly appreciated. :)

Do a gallery search for "hitch" and you'll find a number of them, mine included. 8)
