The dates are;
8/62

My 9/62 Bus has 9/62 rims so I guess they were really cranking them out at the time.

I've been polishing up the firebus these past few days and checked on the original spare... I'd like to switch the bus back to 15" rims. Accordingly, anyone have one or more 2-59 crows foot rims? pm me please if you do.

I stoped at a junkyard in Yreka, Ca. and they had two 4/58 rims and one 5/58 rims. If anyone needs these PM me and I'll forward you their contact info.

Well, I've gotten closer with my search.
I pieced together a set of five 8/55 Kronprinz rims.....I'd be willing to trade these for a set of 9/55 Kronprinz rims.

I also found a donor bus in a junkyard with a VIN dated 10/55, and it had three crows 4/55 rims, and two smooth 10/55 rims.....all five were original paint and suspected original to the bus.

Our Jan '56 Westy came with one 4/55 crows rim which I suspect was original to that bus.

my '56 kombi came with 4 (1/56) crowsfeet, i tracked down a 5th for the spare.

My '58 subhatch had two crows 4/58 rims, and two non-crows 4/58 rims. The four were original to the bus.....I picked up a fifth 4/58 rim recently.

I thought so.....they were all dark blue paint (Westfalia applied) and appear to be original to the bus.

A '58 singlecab I had a few years back had three crows and three not, I can't remember exactly what the dates were but I remember they all matched and seemed appropriate for the truck.

I want to give a shout to Erik Z. who came up with a single Sept. '55 rim for me in good shape. I need three more so hopefully everyone is keeping their eyes peeled.

I traded for 2 more wheels yesterday:
one 11/60
one 8/61

with all the rims flying around in this thread I thought this would be a good time to put in my request. I need ANY 15" non-crows foot rims. I need 4. They are for my 63 single cab. I don't care if the dates match or not, I just want them correct. Come on guys, compared to the other rims in this thread this is an easy one. I can't stand it any longer. In my mind I'm picturing everyone here stumbling over and tossing aside stacks the rims I want to find the 55, or 57, 58, etc. Anyone out there with "normal" rims? pm me PLEASE! [-o<

I bought a '57 subhatch last week....the bus was built in March 1957 and it had three original rims. Two were non-crows and dated 12.56, and one was a crows and dated 3.57. All three were painted grey (westfalia paint) when new and are almost certainly original to the bus.

You guys have a lot of wheels  I just have an 11/61.

I brought a LOT of bus wheels back from Canada this spring, knowing that Campingbox and 69doublecab needed some specific early dates. I figured these would be early ones as there were a LOT of 16 inch rims there as well. I've been through about half of them so far, no luck on either of your guys's dates. I'll let you know if I find any you need. At some point I'll probably throw a list of dates on here in case others are still looking.

im looking for another 1/56 crowsfoot- the one i was going to use as a spare is pretty pitted.

Hmmm. Another odd one for Greg. Did Westfalia paint the wheels off of the buses?

I think they painted them while installed on the vehicle, drums, rims, lugnuts and all.
