I have some bumps and bruises I need to buff out for the final showing. any special recipes for polish???wax???

When buffing out a clear use 2000 grit and 3m fill and glaze or 3m rubbing compound. Its easier with a variable speed buffer. If they are just small spots might be better to rub them out by hand.

What kind of bumps and bruises?

I had a little run in with a dropped screwdriver and my gelcoat this week where the recovery now makes me an expert?

1500 and 2000 grit saved the day. Do you have a buffer?

Yea, I have a buffer, both orbital and rotary. I have a few scarpes from taking the hood on and off 1000 times. I tried 1500 grit and some 3m "perfect it" rubbing compound with my orbital and a foam bonnet but it still is not a great shine. I may try the roatry buffer with a wool bonnet.

Perfect It is only the line of product, they come in different grits. You will want machine glaze. Or the Pink fill and glaze or the generically named "Rubbing compound" Plus you get better results trying to buff out 2000 grit and not the 1500. 1500 grit takes extra work to get the same results as you would with the 2000. Also the foam bonnet is less likely to burn the clear as the wool one is. The rotary buffer cranked up to 1800-2000rpm with the right compound will get you there. Keep her moving though.

Murzi, if you used perfect it and dont like the shine, this may help you out. If the scratches look to be mostly gone after sanding and hitting it with perfect-it, but the shine is still not great, remember that the perfect it, depending on which one your using still has grit in it for cutting. It may help you to hit it with a finish compound, like 3m's foam pad finishing compound. I have been doing cars and was not real happy with the second cut, but when I hit it with the finishing compound it just came to life. Once your happy with the shine before the show this weekend, buff a hand glaze on with a black foam pad, wipe it off by hand.

I use meguiers flagship boat wax on my manx (its in a black bottle). Zaino is also pretty awesome, just VERY time consuming.
