Indeed. The problem is I can find Hanooks. Can't find Vanco8s for some reason. Someone got a link? |

Bridgestone RD603 185R14 load range D. I've used them and they work fine.
If Firestone were the last tire company on earth I would run on the rims. I don't know what possessed Bridgestone to buy the tire company equivalent of syphilis. |

| Ordering correct tires for the seventy one. Any advantage, disadvantage in getting the 195s vs the 185s? I plan to go with the 195's because I wanted a bit bigger tire. |

No difference really. Buy what floats your boat! |

I was interested in the Nokian Hakkapelliita CS tires, but I discovered that they are unidirectional, and I do not want to carry 2 spares in my 1978 Westfalia.
The tire salesman recommended Nokian Hakka C Van as an alternative (they are bidirectional), which are officially listed as load range C,l but I want load range D. The tire salesman said that although the specifications indicated C, it is a typo, and they are actually D.
Any opinions on the Hakka C Van tires? (Since I live in Phoenix, I am not so much interested in snow/ice performance.)
thanks

More important than a "C" or "D" is the load index.
"185/R14 C 102/100 S" is more than adequate for a bus.
102= 1874 pounds or 850 kg.
In the big picture, it is not going to hurt much driving 50 miles to a tire shop using a unidirectional spare the wrong way to have a tire fixed though. I would buy the CS enven though they are a bit taller @ 195R14. |

Don't waste your time with Discount Tire. They don't have them.
You will find yourself waiting at a counter with a nice enough sales person, but they can't find what you're looking for. When you call Discount Tire Direct, they will tell you that they apparently don't stock RA08s in a 14in tire size.
I wish I could have those hours of my life back. |

Buy them here and then take them back into Discount to have them mounted. Perhaps they will get the message.

| That's also where I get mine. Tires-Easy / Delti. And laughed all the time. Discount pulled the same stuff and when they finally came up with a price it was $30 each more. And Delti has a network of service shops that mount them cheaper than Discount. Funny thing was that Delti's installer was just a short ways down the street. Delti did mess up an order and UPS brought someone elses tires. But they did get it straightened out. |

Had some "General" (brand made in USA) All Terrain tires installed on the '73 last week. 27 x 8.5 /14". $94 ea.
They look bad ass and feel great on and off the pavement.
They are drilled for studs but I'll never need those here in the desert.
The best part is that there is no more of that sway while cornering like with the passenger car tires that were on before. These are solid and the bus doesn't feel like it wants to roll over anymore.
The bus is at stock height.
