Ahh.... Thanks for the link!

I've got Nexens on the front of my bug. Although it is a totally different tire and application I like them. Very smooth riding and good handling even though they are the most pliable tires I've had.
Check out tires-easy.com . Excellent dealings with them and their tires. You might save a bunch of coin

Anyone? Thoughts...I have read many threads some say the portawalls are good, some say they will tear up your tire....Its not my daily driver so I am leaning towards getting some.

Stopped by Tires Plus the other day to inquire about somw 185R14's and ofcourse the guy said I was missing some numbers...finally got the guy who's been working tires for eon's and know what I was asking for. He located some D rated 185R14's called "NEXUS" tires. He had never heard of the brand and I am not finding anything about them on the net.

Anyone know anything about these tires?

By the way, they would run $553.91 for 4...a little steep.

I have those NEXEN tires (SV-820). I think they are Korean. I've had them on my bus for 2 years. They seem excellent. That price does seem a little steep. I paid about a hundred dollars per tire and that's up here in small town Canada on a special order from the local tire shop.

Camit,
I see you are in CO., Don't get the Nexen's if you are going to use them in the snow much. I have them and as Scott states on his sight they aren't good in the snow.

Hankook RAO8'S aren't any good either, they're commercial highway tires.

Have you driven in the show with the Hankooks? I live in north-east TN. Right in the Appalachian mtns., and we've been getting some snow lately. My bus has went everywhere I needed to go. I know the tread pattern is a summer pattern, but I think it's the over-all set up that makes it work. I have an original 1977 Continental, that was in the spare tire cabinet of the bus, and it was a summer rib truck tire. They are thin, rigid and the weight of the bus is all transfered to a small patch on the road. Thus they go great in the snow. Peace!

I think if I lived in Colorado, had only one set of bus tires mounted on rims, and intended to drive my bus in the winter, my tires would say "Nokian" on the side of them.

Yes we get snow in Mass. Yes it goes in the snow. Does it go well? No. I drive for a living, the only reason it goes in the snow is the inherent ability of the rear engine rear drive. It wouldn't take much to stop it. Front engine, rear drive with snows, goes better than rear engine, rear drive without. If you just need to get around town they'd probably be OK, as long as you don't have steep grades.

I only use it the snow when my daughter is home from college for winter break.
We got about 15" in Dec. I was out in it, kinda fun but never knew when I might get stuck. It didn't like getting going at all. It wouldn't ease out, you had to just keep it revving churnin' and burnin' till you started to move.

Just my opinion you don't have to agree.

Too short. You want 185R14. There are other brands you know.

Nothing wrong wih Chinese tires as long as they meet Federal DOT standards.

Desertbusman Sat Feb 27, 2010 10:42 pm

Did you search for Triangle? Type that in "search this topic" at the top.

gottaurge Sun Feb 28, 2010 7:15 am

yes I did a search, not much ther a couple of guys saying they bought them but no opinion on how they last over time.

thegoodfight7211 Tue Mar 02, 2010 11:50 am

I must not be searching this thread right...I'm trying to figure out where people order the RA08s. I've found some sites, but they want to charge like $200 to ship them...bringing the total to around $500. Seems like a lot for shipping; is there a cheaper way to get them?

cdennisg Tue Mar 02, 2010 11:55 am

Check your local tires stores to see if there is a dealer in your area. They may charge more for the tires up front, but it is often less than the total cost with shipping. You also get the added benefit of keeping your money local, and you have a place to go if you have a tire problem in the future.

Randy in Maine Tue Mar 02, 2010 12:59 pm

Here is my approach.....

I would call up a few tire dealers to see if they can order them up for me and if they will get pretty close to the "web price" I go with them. They still need to mount and balance the tires anyway + trhey are the local guy and I like to use the local guy if possible.

With buying and shipping the $ number local guy needs to get close to is ~ $328. http://ssl.delti.com/cgi-bin/rshop.pl?details=Orde...Range=Load Range D

Tireseasy is having a 5% anniversary discount right now. To my zip. they will ship 5 tires for about $420. I think I'm going to order this week. RA08s
