 i was asking Bus depot, Desertbusman must of not seen their post i was quoting. it just shows how much this tire decision/buying stuff thread has got my head pounding. might need some of that ''strawberry cough and northern lights'' to chill, cause now i'm rethinking buying the tires. lol ** UPDATE** the tires are on the way for $89.00 to ship 5 tires, great job BD :D

$90 a tire for those is not a bad price.

Once you drive on them you will be satisfied with your purchase.

I am running 205/65/15 Vredesteins on my 7" wide GoWesty alloys. Nice premium all season tire with a nice ride.

I have the wide-5 15" rims. Looks like the larger diameter split window rims. What do people run on the 15" wide-5 rims?

How wide are the rims?

I was thinking that they were about 5" wide.... :-k

Beetle wide 5s are 15 X 4, Bus wide 5s are 15 X 4 1/2. Bus wide 5s have 4 "slots" between the centers and the rims, Beetle wide 5s are smooth, with no openings 'twixt center and rim.

If he has Bus wheels, he'd do well to check the Split forum for tire recommendations. I believe there's a link or two in the Stickies there.

Interesting that they have some pretty poor reviews for that tire.

Just went down to our local tire place in Bountiful, UT (Burt Bros) - after some digging with suppliers, they told me that they can supply and fit 5 x 185R14 RA08s to my bus for just under $800 including sales tax, balancing, tire disposal, UT tire tax at $1 apiece and they also included a Tire Protection Plan quote at $68.99.

Special order, so need to pay for the tires up-front and they'll take 2 weeks to get here, apparently.

How does that sound for doing all four plus the spare?

Randy in Maine Tue Feb 14, 2012 12:18 pm

Sounds expensive to me.

Personally I like to buy from the local guy if he is willing to work with me. See if they will match (or get close to) the "tires-easy.com" price. 5 x 83.70 = 418.5 + 63.54 to ship them to you. Mounting and balancing is usually about $15-20 a tire.

My local guy actually will beat the best webprice (including shipping) that I can find and will beat it by 5%. They get me $20 a tire to mount and balance (which is where they make all the money anyway). I usually bring in my own steel valve stem set ups as I dislike the cheap rubber ones they like to put in there. Too cheaply made for me.

There is some value to be had for you in keeping the local guy there and it helps if you have a problem down the road.

Needed to replace the dry rotted Pirelli's the PO had got.
Got my 185R14 Hankook RA08's in the mail today from BusDepot! Good price, reasonable shipping and they were on my doorstep in 5 days.
Thanks busdepot!
(and pass those strawberries please  )

I have bus wheels. They were on it when I got it. I have checked the split forum without a good, current result. I was curious is anyone has found anything that was comparable in price to the RA08s or anywhere close.
