I just order 5 Hankook RA08 from onlinetire. 5 shipped was $371.93

I am having them shipped to the US and picking them up, otherwise shipping would be $ expensive $

Exchange rate still SUCKS right now .84 . And to add insult to injury the bank won't give you that rate! I think they give us like .77 They pocket 7 cents on every dollar.

I wanted to ask if i can put 195/70r15 on a 5.5 rim, I have a pair on 4.5 rims on the back and are really close to rubbing the side wall.

my rims are Mangles and I have thout about posting a swap for the 5.5 for some 4.5 but I don't want to break up the band, and the likelihood of finding some one in my area to do that is slim.

Let us know where you found 195R70-15 C rated tires.

I had mine delivered to the Hankook guy in Cut Bank Montana. Delivered, mounted, disposal fee & balanced for $94/each. It's just an hour from Coutts.

Aftermarket bug wheels? Don't forget a bus weighs twice that of a bug. Also driving road forces are considerably greater on a bus. Plus torque and braking forces are a lot more. Bug wheels require considerably less strength than what a bus does. For instance consider the welds. Mangels have just a little bit of welding here and there. Bus wheels are a continuous weld holding the outer to the inner. If you carry a band in there, don't kill them.

Great deal, I had them delivered to a friends house in Kalispell and I will bring mine home with me, then have my local guy mount them for me. We are not bring the bus we are taking the mini van to the States

So how New are your recent Hankook RA08 tires?
To those who have recently purchased tires, could you let us know the manufacture week date code that is being currently shipped?
Thank you.

Let is Snow.

Heres a pic. of my 195 RAO8s. I absolutely love them. This thread is right on.

No more sweaty palms in the corners and its super stable in crosswinds too. The difference in handling is amazing. My highroof handles almost as good as a normal car now.

Slightly larger than stock but i havnt checked the speedo for error yet.

Is there any advantage at all going with a 195 instead of the standard 185?

They will just gear you up a bit as they are about 1/2" taller. Usually that is not a huge problem.

Which may put you right back where the bus was originally designed with bias ply tires. :)

So is WhitewallsJohnson saying that the bus actually handles noticeably better with the 195's versus the stock size?

Well, one of my Yokohama Y356s (Load range C) failed this morning on the way to work. There is a big hole in the inner sidewall.

This set of tires has been on my bus since June 14th, 2005 (3 years 5.5 months). I'll have to check the mileage. The tread was still good at last check.

I guess it's time for some new meats. :?

I'll post a pic after I get home form work later.

EDIT for date of original installation.

EZ Gruv Tue Nov 25, 2008 6:28 pm

Here are the pics:

Date code 0605, so if I understand the coding properly thats mid-February 2005

The tire were installed June 14, 2005 and have been driven a touch over 29,000 miles.

Looks suspiciously like a curb or pot hole cut.
