Ah; so that's what those convenient holes were meant to be used for! I found them handy for an oil filter..

Cool find. Any idea what model Westy it was from? Totally ancetdotal, but it seems the rarer options sometimes came on the rarer models. Maybe a euro spec bus?

I am just curious, do all Bays have tow hooks? I mean - not the type pictured, but a tow hook under the car near the front?

yes, they are welded to the frame.

it looked like a standard 1970 poptop westy to me

the only other really odd (rare) thing i saw was
a 6th seat floting in the cab

yes 6th -2 front 2 rear,jump seat is #5 & this seat was #6

& yes it is original -it has the original lam & yellow viynal with correct wood on inside
& a 110outlet at the bottom of one side next to black brackets
to mount a table leg

i have never noticed it before in other early westy"s
& if anybody has a pic of seat in the bus i would like to see it

these things did not come to mind untill it was to late
thats why im hoping that i get a chance to revisit this bus before the crusher so i can get the m-plate

yes, they are welded to the frame.

Or part of the bumper brackets on a 68-72 (72 is a separate bolted piece).

You mean kind of like this? thay are rare in the us but not so much in europe. This one had cloth upholstery and it is factory just not yellow vinyl. you can just see the holes where the table mount go's.
I have 2 of them.

You will see that pillow in place on my photo a few post back. It is the back rest for the side seat. In my photo it's the seat with the odd color bottom pad. It was only in this style of westy. Thay can be very hard to find.

I also have quite a few of them, orange and blue ones! would like to trade one of them for a yellow one if someone has one!

Until now I did not realize I had such a rare pillow :)
Even harder to find are the stove knobs, I've had a
"wanted" ad for over a year, then gave up and
made a couple. If anyone has one I would rather
have the proper ones. Somebody once wanted
the water bottle real bad :o

Iam putting my SO69 inside's into my 69 westy. I have most the setup that is in my photo that I posted earlyer and the other I have has the full width bed and a head banger cabinet. It will be nice to have one of my westy's with the wide bed. I woulder what this one I have is called. it is a nonwalk through and has the closet buy the bed and behind the driver. The other one I parted out is like the one's in the earlyer posted photo's but it was a walk through with the wide bed.

The first one you mention is the Stockholm, the second is the Zurich

Westfalia SO69 1969-1971

SO69/1 - Oslo - Nonwalkthrough (NWT) with wardrobe behind driver and kitchen unit extending across the rest of the bulkhead; full-width rear bench; single seat base under driver side middle window w/ swiveling table.

SO69/2 - Zurich - Walkthrough version of Oslo model

SO69/3 - Stockholm - NWT same as Oslo except for additional wardrobe next to sliding door (non full-width rear bench)

SO69/4 - Brussels - Zurich model with same additional wardrobe as Stockholm model

SO69/5 - Paris - Walkthrough; no cooker; wardrobe behind driver; sink/icebox behind passenger; full-width rear bench; roof cabinet

SO69/6 - Rome - Same as Paris except for additional wardrobe/non full-width rear bench (like Stockholm and Brussels models).

Cool thanks. My 69 did have the Amsterdam. I have pull it all out to fix the bus. the inside was in bad shape. I have parts of a Paris (out of a 71) and a Stoclholm (still in a 70). So when I get done it will be a Paris. I will have to get that book I have some other vw camper books but not that one.

Don't really know how rare it is but I have a pretty nice jack bag. I have another one that is pretty torn up and has become very brittle now. This one is nice except for a couple stains. Now I just need to complete the tool kit.

I was poking around a garage sale the other day and came across a couple boxes of VW parts. Most of it was junk and misc stuff from all models but in the bottom of one I found this. Needless to say I bought all of it hoping there was more cool stuff but this was the only part of mention.
