All those who have followed our Highroof have complained about our "brake lights" (among other things). At a local all-car swap meet we came across this guy who is making 3rd brake lights in 6 volt or 12 volt (the Highroof is 6 volt). It has to be installed on a flat rear window -- no problem for a bus! It works great, and the owner of the company is really good at making sure you are 100% satisfied with his product. Here's his contact info: "Brakelighter", made by J&L Enterprises in Ellington CT, John Bieback, 860-916-3582, [email protected]

| Nice looking bus, that 3rd brake light should help prevent a rear end collision. :D |

3rd brake light is a good idea. I've had too many close calls and the brake light on the decklid has seemed to help. Here is mine :)

| I actually purchased one of these at Southbury (CT) this year, and they have a bracket kit that can be used on sloped rear windows (Beetle and Ghia). It's an additional $12. I just installed one on my '63 Beetle. |

After living in NM for a year now, I realize people here CANNOT DRIVE!!! In a state where 70+ year olds drive better than 18-60 year olds my DD bus is in terrible danger.
A close call with a soccer mom almost rear ending me and a flash back to the coram rug works bus I installed a $10 3rd brake light to increase visability so that all the morons busy doing other things besides keeping their eyes on the road might see me.
A $5 67 type I reverse light and a $5 reproduction red lens, connected to the factory speaker harness that runs to the back of the bus along the roof line made the install less than 30 minutes.

| I like the look of that. I have 67 lights I can do that too. Will see which one I like better. Also like how you did that. Is that a gif image? Putting that on my desktop  |

Thanks. An animated GIF is what it is, first one I put together.
For the red lens, the next one I do for the decklid rack on the 60 I will use transperant testor paint and spray the original clear glass lens. |

1. Yellow shows MUCH BETTER than red. Found that out with 12 volt KG when changed from USA all red taillights to Euro style yellow topped taillights. About 90% of the horn honking, finger flipping went away.
2. Having turn signals to boot helps hugely, over just center brake light.
To do that have had yellow accessory trailer lights on the license plate to show both brakes and turn signals. Have traveled most of the states West of the Mississippi with no police problem from having the extra lights.
