Hi
Traded a 74 Thing for 2, 914's, one to restore one for parts. :D I'm working on the 74 restorer out in the snow. :? The 73 had most of the interior items I needed. HOWEVER, after getting hit in the shin by a door not staying open I started removing the door safety locks (as called by Haynes manual) what ever you call them they keep the door from opening to far and hold them open. After removing all 4 of these from both cars I found that all of the plastic bushings (1 per door) were worn through as if they never did turn when being operated. :x Anyone know where I can get some of these plastic rollers?
Also could not find water drain holes in door can you tell me where they are?
Has anyone color anodized old bad aluminum wheels?
TIA

| They are called door stays. As for the plastic rollers call High Performance House in Redwood City for the parts you need. |

Do you live in Calgary, I just purchased a 73 2.0 914 and it is driving me nuts, having fuel injection problems. If in Calgary, please drop me a line.
Thanks,
Brian

There's a great replacement available in the 914club.com resources forum. Uses a metal roller instead of plastic.

It's your hinges, that are squeaking, work the doors back and forth, while shooting them with some type of lubercation. |
