A friend told me about this bus so I loaded up the family, headed to Little Rock, talked to the owner "nice guy" we came to an agreement, and headed to Hot Springs so the kids could enjoy the trip as much as I did.

2 deluxes in 2 months, not a bad return on your time!
Congrats!

Thanks, just wished the 66 was closer to the condition of the 67.

I'd say you got real Lucky w/ the 1st one, and the second was a good find as well. And both are walk thru 13 window Deluxes !!! :) 8)

Not today, but recently, found out from a wrecking yard owner I've been dealing with for many years that he had bought out the inventory of parts from a VW dealership in Seattle that closed down. His memory is a bit fuzzy as he is getting way up there in years but he said that this happened sometime in the 60s. Almost everything is long sold off but he still has an inventory of paint that has been stored well. He had occasionally used some for projects in his yard, things like his loader and other equipment would get freshened up with the colors that he liked, mostly the darker ones, blues etc. One day he took the time to let me see what there was and as we checked out the stash it turned out everything was still fresh and useable. Pretty amazing. It is all nitro cellulose lacquer, which I don't believe is easy to come by anymore. I came away with a case of six liters of Turkis L-380, thinking it would be great for the 1963 standard that is part of the stable here. He has more but they seem to be mostly beetle colors which I have no interest in. Anyway, I thought I'd share this with you all cause it isn't likely to happen again anytime soon, if ever.
I could share a list of what else is there if anyone cares.
Here's pic to prove it happened.

Yes, very cool - please post up a list - it will be fascinating to see what he had (particularly if he has L72).

Cheers,

Dave

This is the original list he gave me. Later he gave the impression that there might be more, but I didn't push him on that. He is very hard of hearing, memory going, and out of courtesy and respect, I accepted the list as is.

L398 Pacific Blue Qty 2
L391 Pastel Blue Qty 5
L519 Bahama Blue Qty 6
L478 Beryl Green Qty 5
L572 Panama Beige Qty 7
L514 Emerald Green Qty 5 (not for sale)
L571 Terra Brown Qty 3
L532 Polar Blue Qty 2
L490 Sierra beige Qty 1
L380 Turkis Green Qty 6 (sold)
L384 Pampas green Qty 7

He gave me the numbers & quantity, I added the names. One or two had a thin skin and most had a finger dab on top.

Very cool. That will be almost like an original paint bus then. Make sure you post up pics!

Most interesting - thanks for posting - post pictures of your bus too please when it is painted in your hunted paint :)

Oct 61 walkthru panel that the chassis was cut out for a trailer. It still has the early walkthru section is what I thought was weird. Not sure what to do with this monster either kids playhouse or cut up to save some buses.
Plus just bought 9 bays and a 67 fairlane 500 last night.

kids playhouse idea sounds better to me. It will be worth fixing by the time the kids are grown up!

I've been watching this one for about 8yrs and was able to buy it this week. It's my first bus and I'm the 3rd owner. It's a '61 SWR panel, it has a pretty nice camper conversion and it's SUPER dry, the floors are perfect. It used to be a pharmacy deliver bus and the 2nd owners had it converted. It has some faint logos on the drivers side.
