Not giving away any treasure hunting secrets- but your problem may be revealed in this picture... Many of you know what I'm talking about.

I bet he has the Vw emblem hangin in his garage to remind him that he needs to get around to restoring it... That's my guess but I'm not a very experienced bus hunter 🤔

So who wants to go rescue this guy:

That's almost close to me . . . but a bigger commitment than I can make at this time.

I made my offer - it is 3 hours from me. A local (and Samba member) will get it I bet.

I need more yard art!

It just goes to show ya, if someone says-"Nah, all that stuff is gone", it is best to go check yourself..

I live 10 miles from that place, and have all my life. I knew every nook and cranny, my dad bought his VW parts from John and I continued the tradition. John wouldn't sell to just anyone, and I know several who were escorted off with a shotgun after being found 'uninvited'.

Before the farm sold and the new owner auctioned everything off, I removed about 5 truck and trailer loads of stuff. What I left behind for Dan(slugbus) was hardly worth parting in my books. That said it was one of the best ever, period. 5 barndoors, 5 356 porsches, tons of ovals, a few split bugs. I just returned a '54 oval with 17K og miles from out of there to John Chipps daughter a few weeks ago. If you drove by today you would never know there was ever VWs there. Its now a corn field.

The idea of hoarding destroying buses IMO is really dependent on climate.
In the woods in Georgia, or in the woods in W WA the cars stay damp and do rust out. Trees drop stuff in the rain gutters and it composts.

In a dry area, leaving them in a field, they aren't really rotting.

Wow interesting that they don't really rot in a dry field Clara. I know where my next bus is coming from with patina too!

Two years of texts and phone calls, finally got the green light last night. My tech loaded the rollback early this morning and brought this 67 so 42 back to its new home in Tahlequah.

I applaud your persistence. 8)

'56 sounds good.

Here's a few changes from Progressive Refinements & stuff about overhead vents...
If I misread anything... please advise.

(2.5 months of '58s w/eyebrow deck lid)
(29 days of pressed bumper '59s with high tail lights)

3-rib overhead vent

Smooth overhead vent

Few years ago I met real cool vw guy @ an american hot rod car show. We hit it off well and kept in contact. I knew he had a bus he was working on so I always tried to buy it, tried to the point where it became more of a joke. I never thought he would sale it to me. Then yesterday he lost his cell phone and made post on facebook requesting everyone's cell number. I type'd in my phone number and jokingly asked if his bus was for sale. HE PRICED IT!!!
So I bought it.
1965 SWR, should have it running in a few hours, awesome week!

and on its way home to Tahlequah
