Hey everybody!

I just got my 14yr old daughter and I a new buggy project to work on. It's something we'll need to tear down and rebuild, but I had a question I was hoping someone could help with. The steering column needs a support. I was going to purchase the bracket that Berrien buggy sells, but it looks like to steering column is only strapped to the bracket with an adjustable clamp. Shouldn't there be a steering column bracket with a bearing? Not sure which way to go.... Thanks for whatever help anyone can give!!

There is a bearing at the top of the steering column and the lower end is supported by the steering box. This is on the later model ones that I am familiar with. If you use a steering shaft with no column you will have to mount it in a bearing of some kind.

BTW like your user name.

I bought one of these from cbperformance that I couldn't use for my buggy because of my dash angle. It has a 7/8" bushing in it and mounts to the dash of a manx clone... I could part with it for $10 +shipping (shouldn't be too bad since I'm only a state away).

I have a texasbuggy with a nice custom bar welded and bolted to the body. It has the bearing and the mount you speak of. I can get a picture if you need it.

There are quite a few different ways to go but make sure it is secure.Check out some of these.

Thanks for all of the good suggestions. I need to tear into it some more and see what would be a good fit. If it's not too much trouble, I would like to see a pic of how your Texas Buggy roll bar looks with the mount. My concern is I can see where the previous owner(s) have cut extra holes in the foot well to relocate the steering column from in the dash to below it. I want to make sure I have the best alignment and support system for it. Thanks again!
