A friend of mine ended up with a bunch of fiberglass molds. Most were for American pony cars (Camaro and Mustang), but a couple of them are VW buggy body molds. They look to be a Kyote mold, but I'm not sure. I was out at his place the other day and the only camera I had was the one in my phone, so the pictures are sort of crappy. I'll try to get more later. Does anyone know anything about these? Are they a Kyote knockoff? One is for a full length chassis and the other is for a cut down one. These are in Idaho. Any info would be appreciated.

They look to be Kyote molds. I can't say if they are splashes or the real thing (I would err on the side that they are not)
I am not sure how Dean Jefferies worked his business, Sometimes to keep shipping costs at a minimum, big companys would have several shops supplying bodies across the country. you would have to contact Dean to ask him.
Being there are two molds , someone was making more than just a couple. If they came from a group of molds It's possible Dean may have been using them to supply bodies.

I talked to a friend about these and he showed me pics of the real Kyote molds and they are much beefier (Jefferies still has them) Also Dean never made a full length of this style.
There were alot of Kyote lookalike buggies built for the Shriners for parade use. These were usually bright green. It's possible this is a group of these molds.
Can you find out the name of the glass shop these came from. I'll compile a folder and look through some unidentified Kyote types on file. Maybe we can match some up - especially the full length

is it just me or do they look like buggy bodies, not molds of buggy bodies? Molds are usually the negative image (female plug) of the body and usually looks awkward with lots of things stuck on them like 2x4s to help remove the molds off. So those look too finished to be a mold IMO.

Hey your right!

These are NOT molds they are bodies that the gelcoat was bad or non adhering. The raw glass is exposed and only some yellow gel.

The outside of the mold should be a rough and lumpy looking thing.
The inside would be a smooth gelcoat reverse of a body.

These are just bad bodies.
