I love the look of the Porsche fan shroud. I know it doesn't cool as well as Raby's DTM, but like it for the looks. Will it cool a 1776 properly? Is there room for a single carb in back to fit under a manx clone body? I don't want to deal with duals if I don't have to. Any pics would help.
Thanks for the help.

dual carbs only on the porsche shroud............. and Mark dual carbs are sweeeeet after you set them up!!!! Get some 40mm IDF's or order some Kadrons from AJ Sims already setup for your engine. AJ is the Kadron guru.

| I have duels and what a pain they were , until I understood how they work. now they are great. Why not build a 1914. Cost is the same and you will not say I wish I built a 1914 when you are done. |

might as well go for the turbo now. thats where it will end up. thats what i am thinking. just can't justify the expense yet!
i went with 1776 for a bit of power but with good reliability. finding out its just not enough. |

I might just go with the 1915 if it's pretty much the same cost. FI would be nice. I've seen the ad in DB&HVWs from Berg (I think) showing the single carbed engine with the porsche fan shroud. Left top engine, if anyones looking at the ad. But don't know if it'll clear.
I have around 3k to spend on engine, also I haven't tested the tranny yet. Might need one that's more geared for somewhat larger tires.
So much to do yet.

I've seen off-road buggies with porsche shrouds and single carbs. These were mainly Type 4's, but maybe something exists for the T1. The carb runs in front of the shroud though, which may be tight on a glass buggy. |

Does any one have photos of an engine witht he P.F.S. and a single carb in front? Would it fit under the Clone body?

| I don't get it??? Why spend a thousand bucks on something proven to rob 10-15 hp and then top it off with a single carb. Stick with the type one tin stuff, get a used set of 44 webers, and exhaust, a 94mm piston and cylinder set and still have money left over. Those porsche style setups look awesome, but are a ton of money for a decrease in performance. |
