I had a funny thing happen the other day. I have a '71 Bus with a 34PICT and stock Bus exhaust. My accel. pump was clogged so I took the top off my carb, pulled the accel. tube and unclogged it. I put things back together and the accel. pump worked great but suddenly my Bus sounded like a Bug - I mean it has the exact sound of a pea-shooter muffler - that high pitched put-put-put.
I took the carb apart again, blew some ports/jets clean and tried it again - same thing. It may be a moot point as I just took my Bus off the road for the winter and I'm going to dry out the carb for the winter. But I wonder what could have caused the sound. It seemed to be more prevalent at up to 3,000 rpm. |
