My split is coming along nicely I think. Tell me what you think so far?
Vote for what color fender beading I should run Grey or Black.
Both are OEM NOS Fender beading.

Thanks Ben.

Paint looks nice. Black fender beading. I look at it like this, fender beading is not meant to be seen. Its not something you want to draw attention to. Kinda like cars that put that chrome door edging on every line.

Also, why didnt you have them weld up the extra tailight holes or the pea shooter holes and horngrille hole so you could cut a round one in? Just curious. Overall the paint job looks nice.

Let me guess, He sold the o.g. front fenders, So he could rock those custom horn grills. That he made?

I need all 3 holes in the fender to mount the round taillight. the 2 lower holes are for the bracket and the top hole is to feed the wires through. I did not weld the tail pipe holes because of the EMPI Exhaust I will run, and im going with custom VW Logo horn grills. Why did VW make colored fender beading then?

I have an extra set of OG fender I can put back on the car at any time, but I like the VW logo horn grills and I was not going to cut OG fenders to run the grills.

Colored fender beading went on cars that were the exact same color. For example, a sea blue car had sea blue beading, tan had tan etc. Same with the running board mats but it was more of a dealer option than anything.

The tailight holes look a bit high for the split tailights. What color blue is that? Looks like the bodywork came out really straight. Keep us posted.

Hi Skim, did not even know thay made colored running board matts. The color is L37 mittelblau witch translates to medium blue. I have an OG paint chart that is in German that is for all 51 VW colors. Not sure if the taillight are high that is were they were mounted when I bought the car and I have to references to go by. I`m lucky I have a good body man as the drivers side 1/4 panel you could pull about 1 inch away from the bottom pan area.
