i have a 1964 dune buggy, just bought.
I need help tuning the buggy. 1600 cc dual port 34 pic 3
Things replaced..
Intake boots
Used carb
009 dist.
Cap
Rotor
Wires
Plugs
It ran great Saturday for a while then it started to run like garbage ? |

| 34 pict 3 and .009 distibutor go together like oil and water. Search performance engine forum for this combo. Can be done but a little technical. Got tired of fooling with it went back to svda. |

i went home at lunch to drive the buggy. it ran like garbage.
it started to pop and back fire.
what should i set the timming at ?
it is a 64 pan and a 71 case stamped AE ?????????? |

Stock timing is 5 degrees ATDC. With .009, try 10 degrees and 30 at 3500 rpm. If I'm wrong, correct me people.
If you have changed carb, will need to adjust that also. See sticky's under Performance/ engines. Lot's of good info. |

| Had the buggy been sitting before you got it? You say it ran good on Saturday and not now. Was that after all those new parts were installed or before. I would start by checking the point gap cuz it's real easy. I would more likely suspect something in your gas tank, filter or carb that shouldn't be there. Like water or garbage. Hate to reply to this kind of post because it's all guesswork over the net. |

all the parts were on befor it started to run bad ?
i check the plugs after work they were all foiled out ???
no wet or oily just black ??? |
