Here is a diagram. Basically it is retained by a large slotted "bolt" with a hole in it.

In a pinch, a fat washer (with the same OD as the slotted nut) clamped tight in vise-grips, can be used to loosen the nut.

where can I get a new nut? I purchased a new oil breather tower and it uses the stock breather nut which I dont have, it had an aftermarket fill tube on it when I got it. i can seem to find anyone that sells them new. thanks

Or two flat bladed screw drivers crossed will work.
