We call ours Gertrude (german origin which means spear of strength)

I almost named my '71 Mildred. My grandmother (lived to be 77), and her mother (lived to be 83) were both named Mildred. Both were "tough old birds". Neither was very nice, and both hated kids (myself included). I was agonizing over it, and was considering Mabel, as she was my great-grandmother's twin sister, and very nice. A friend of mine, who knew none of this, suggested "Mabel" out of the blue, and that clinched the deal. I walked out to tell her the news, and looking at her from behind (she has no rear bumper at the moment), I thought, "Yeah, she looks JUST LIKE a Mabel."
