Ahhhh ... read between the pictures. I did everything I could to the picture to try and read the label. Ain't old age wonderful!!! Anyway, these switches have not received rave reviews. I wonder how long they will hold up?

I tried to get the sprayers to work in my 72. Either the hose is worn out and wont stay on the 'nipple' in back of the button well enough, or else the passage is plugged? Anyway, it came out everywhere at the switch there, blowing the fuse! I tried a zip tie as a mini clamp, but it didn't work.

I've given up on the stock system - it seems retarded to plumb the fluid so close to the electronics like that.

I got a window washer pump from sciplus.com for >$5. I'll be looking for an automotive grade momentary switch to use. If the kit came with that and the pump, I'd go $20. With new hose $30.

You couldn't pay me enough to put a switch from radioshack in my bus, especially in a place that requires effort to get back out, as that would be inevitable!

sounds like a good idea. i personally wont buy one, as i have some german glass with almost no miles on it. i will not turn on my wipers unless i have washed the windows by hand first. the dirt just ruins windshields over time- with or without a squirter- and the only solution is to keep it clean all the time.

I would love a kit. Right now every time I close the driver door I can here a slight "pssshhh" as the windshield washer hoses lose air pressure.

We've been driving the bus regularly since July, and the washer system has worked flawlessly. I can't find the package, but I'm pretty sure the ones I bought were "normally open", as a normally closed switch would run all the time. I'm running the power directly thru' the switch. But if anyone was concerned about it, it would be simple enough to use a relay set-up. I don't think a washer pump pulls enough amps to harm these switches. I tried one as a make shift reverse light switch tho', and all the magic smoke escaped :P. Peace!

Does anyone know what type of power draw we are talking about for these pumps?

I added a switch to early style dash switch yesterday and can add some pictures later.

Greater than 8 amps. Hook your hot to a white fuse, nothing, then to the red 16 and it works(BTDT). Each pump is different and rated accordingly.

My question is more about the switches since the ones pictured above are these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062539

which are only rated for 0.5 amps.

The switch i just put on mine is a bit bigger and rated for 1.5 amps. 8 Amps since like it would be a really large draw for a washer pump. Although the smaller switches probably work fine due to the low duty cycle keeping them from heating up too much.

OK but you didn't say that. If you are going to hold the switch on greater than about 15 seconds, get a larger rated one. As power is applied, it heats up causinf internal plastic to melt rendering the switch broken. Same thing happens to toggle switches. Or at least it does over time for my in-line blowers.

im thinking about after adding the electric pump adding some more spray nozzles to my bumper guards and having them spray on the head lamps. any one do this already. i know they actually make some that are aftermarket bumper guards with them already in them, but i cant find any and they would probably be an arm and a leg.
