2005...Hessisch Oldendorf, 2007 Bad Camberg, 2008 Lavenham, Suffolk.

Better get saving for the airfare/container a new Vintage only VW weekend show has been announced.

It's has been set-up much in the style of the Hessisch Show in a small country town that will underline everyones stereotype of a typical English town.

Looks very promising.

Hi John,
It's only 160 miles from you so you won't need a container!

It would be nice to see a few American vintage VW fans at the show.
We should be able to offer passes for the evening party to visitors from overseas who can't bring a car, so please register your interest in the show via the guest book, we'll keep everyone updated by email on how it's developing.

We'll do our best to ensure everyone has a good time during their visit.

Hi Malcolm,

I was talking to Rob on Sunday so I've heard about all the hard work you've put into this. I'm amazed that the Town council have so whole-heartedly embraced the idea of a "Foreign Marque" taking over the town for the weekend. It was certainly the whole town's involvement that made Hessische such a success...Lavenham can't fail if that's what it takes.

Book your flights early

Lavenham Vintage Volkswagen Show Saturday 28th June 2008

With over 100 vehicles registered from all over Europe, the 1st Lavenham Vintage Volkswagen Show in Suffolk, on Saturday 28th June, is set to make a unique mark on this summer's UK VW show calendar.

Lavenham, in the heart of rural Suffolk, is regarded as being the finest surviving example in England of a mediaeval town, with superb ancient buildings - over 300 of them listed as being of architectural and historical interest.

This show differs from most VW shows in two ways; It features only stock, un-modified pre-1967 Vintage Volkswagens, displayed in a fantastic setting - Lavenham's picturesque market square in the centre of the town. Surrounded by many timbered buildings, including the famous Guild Hall, the market square is perfect for such a display and offers a unique opportunity for a new style of vintage VW gathering, which has never been seen before in England. Additional special displays will be located in the school playground which is adjacent to the square and at Lavenham Press on Water Street.

Entrance to the show is free and visitors are invited to have a great day out - wandering around the vintage Volkswagens in the picturesque mediaeval town. It will be a chance to see several rare, early Karmann and Hebmüller built Cabriolets in the UK together with many of the best early Volkswagens displayed by enthusiasts from around Europe.

A Volkswagen-only parking area for visitors (open from 9am) and a trade stand area will be located in the meadow at the bottom of Water Street, just a short walk from the square. Volkswagen clubs planning to visit the show are welcome to form line-ups in the meadow, but please try to arrive together and let the organisers know in advance if possible so they make sure you have enough space. There will be a small parking fee payable on the day.

If you're not fortunate enough to own a Volkswagen, public parking (including 2 disabled spaces) is available by the Cock Inn, opposite the church. There's a smaller car park on Prentice Street also with disabled spaces.

The show is sponsored by Status VW Parts, pre67vw.com, Volkswagen Camper & Commercial Magazine and The Split Screen Van Club.

If it goes well, the plan is to hold it every 4 years like Hessisch Oldendorf and Bad Camberg.

Wow, looks like a great event. Hats off ot all who made it happen, I know that is no small feat. Great vintage shows will generally always start small and grow if the venue and location are right.
