I searched the Gallery to no avail, so
Could one of you good people take a pic of the passenger assist straps in your circa 61 De Luxe for me please?
I have all the coathooks for mine, but I thought that there was an assist strap on the passenger side coathook.
Can anyone confirm or deny this and maybe post a pic for me.
Thanks |

One coat hook and strap by the cargo doors. No grab handles anywhere else.
Sample:
The mounting screws are longer than normal for this coat hook. |

| They are available new but not in the correct color. The new ones are bright white and look totally wrong. |

A method for aging plastic parts on "relic" guitars is to soak them in really strong coffee. it stains them and turns them that old looking yellowy/creamy color. I'm sure it'd work just as well on plastic parts like assist straps that are "too white". |

How many in a double door and located where?
And two assist straps of course.
No grab handles on the bulkhead? |

Would you happen to have a pic or link to photo showing proper placement/alignment of hooks opposite side of cargo door location? Two of mine are original with one missing on my 60. The previous owner installed a solid headliner and re-installed hooks but not the third and I want to make sure I am close for hieght and width. Since the existing were re-installed by PO, I hesitate to use them as a template as one looks a little "off". Thanks ! |

Yours should still have the holes and screw plates for the coathooks.
The forward drivers side top screw hole is about 1.5" forward from the window rubber and about 2 "below the roof lip that the headliner cord stuffs into. The rear drivers side top screw hole is dead centre between the windows and again about 2" down from the cord. Hope this makes sense.
Poke around with an awl in that general vicinity and you should get lucky. |

Thanks Riff Raff, much appreciated. That is what I needed to know. So to recap thread, 59-61 deluxe is 3 coathooks and only 1 assist strap/grab handle. |

If I had to guess, I would say 2 coat hooks and 2 grab handles only. No front coat hooks since it has double cargo doors. |

2 coats hooks with 2 assist handles under them.
I would guess 2 front bulkhead handles too.
This Double Door has no grab handles but I can't tell with 100% certainty if the holes are there:

It does have 2 pressings for them but I think that is normal. |

The mounting screws are longer than normal for this coat hook. If those are og straps, then apparantly they were never as narrow as the coat hook mounted on top of it?. I'm talking width, not thickness. |

Correct. It's a bit wider.
The above photo is 2 photos of the same grab handle. |
