Long story on this one, so I figured it was worth posting...An old roommate and I found this Beetle 7 years ago. Everyone in the house had a VW except him, and he wanted one too...that's it in the first pic - he spent a month or so sanding it down every day after work, a fender here, hood there, etc. He drove it to the paint booth with no windows, lights, etc, and then proceeded to redo the interior, stereo, and drop about $6k on a HUGE type IV engine & racing tranny.
I bought a house over 3 years ago, and maybe saw him once or twice since then. A few weeks ago, we found out he had driven his 2006 Cobra off the side of a mountain...on purpose...
So no one knew what had happened to the Beetle until a couple weeks ago, when I was talking to a guy I know who runs a shop. I was looking for a cheap body to drop a 71 Super Beetle drive train into. Turns out the owner had sold it to him 6 months ago, he had yanked the engine and tranny, and it was just sitting there...
Saturday I swapped out the engine & tranny, and drove it home. Purple isn't really my favorite color, but I figured I'd leave it for now, as a tribute...
And I have to give the Empi's back. I have two 2.0 fuchs wheels, but I need 2 more if anyone has some that aren't ridiculously expensive...got 2 fake empi's as a partial trade...
Anyway, hope y'all approve. (And yes, I'm taking the cat's eye things off the headlights)

Sorry about your friend.
Looks like you got a pretty nice ride though. If it's a tribute maybe a type4 is in store. |

Yeah, it's got a stock 1600 DP in it now, but coming from the split bus side of things, that is pretty darn fast!
:)
I've got a line on a ragtop clip, so that may be in the works...At this point I'm not really worried about keeping it stock at all.. |
