I am collecting parts to build a 356 engine - I have gotten hold of a nice cam shaft with no gear, are they interchangable with VW items? Can a straight cut vw cam gear fit? I have seen a couple on ebad recently with vw markings, but the vendor advertised them as porsche items, is he correct?

| 356 is the same as early (36hp) VW, with somewhat reduced helix from 40 hp & later. While the straight-cut cam gears would work, why would you want a noisey 356 engine? |
