Hey guys. I just have to give a praise about www.churninggears.com They were so much help with my transmission. I thought it was blown for sure and all I did was explain to them about what was going on and he was able to save me alot of money for free. He didn't even charge me for his help. So imagine how good of work he does on transmissions. He went far and between for me and I just had to let you guys know. Check him out. Ken is a great guy.

kenny has been a pleasure to deal with. I bought a pro street trans from him & was having a hard time on the install. this was on a saturday evening. I had nothing to lose so i tried his phone # & guess who answers, kenny himself! we get the prob figured out, but thats not good enough, he leaves a message on my voicemail the next day, wanting to know how everything worked out. this is a stand up guy. I hope his business grows. the vw world could use more like him.

I didn't really know what I needed or wanted, Ken worked with for about 3 months while I changed my mind and eventually motors before ordering a trans. And he delivered to my dads shop for me (redlands and he is in apple valley). If you are new to the bug scence and need trans work I would e-mail or call him. He'll help you out.

Kenny built me a Pro Street Trans with the gear ratios I specified. He kept me updated on the progress of it every step of the way. I had not pulled the old trans out of my '74 Ghia convertible, so I did not let him know what mounts or type of throwout bearing I was using. Kenny had asked me what I needed in this area but I could not give him a clear answer. He shipped the tranny with what he thought I needed. The trans arrived on time and in great shape. When I finally pulled my old tranny I found I had a different front mount and the later throwout bearing. I called Kenny and he immidiately shipped me a new nosecone and gave me the exact website to fix my throwout bearing compatibility problem. Kenny is a great customer relations guy, he cares about the customer aand he WILL go out of his way to help his customers! If I had my own VW buisness I definitely would give him all my buisness. As it is, I highly reccomend Churning Gears to anyone looking for a quality Transmission ! :D

Thumbs up to Kenny at churninggears.com

He helped me with some questions about my transaxle. Thanks again Kenny!

serrano Wed Jan 10, 2007 3:32 pm

We had a trans that we installed and it had a minor issue so Ken not only had it shipped to his shop but drove two hours to my place to reinstall it.

Couldn't ask for any more....

I am out in Virginia, and recently bought a transaxle from Ken. I cannot thank him enough for the outstanding quality of service, and the quick turnaround time. When I start rebuilding my other bug, I plan on getting the transaxle from Ken. Thanks again.

In their ad they say they would help you find the problem out with your tranny over the phone or email. So I emailed them telling about the problem I'm having with me buggies tranny. They called me (in New Hampshire)to help me out. After asking me a bunch of things they told me the problem they thought it to be. I just finished pulling the tranny out and found it to be as they said. I don't need a tranny, just a new super diff. I had one broken tooth from inside and a little bite of filings in the oil but not enough to do any damage to anything else. Now all I have to do is get a diff. and I'm on my way!

Thanks guys for all the help, Vicsfixit

I just picked up my trans from Kenny (Churning Gears)
it's a pro-street ff flipped 3.88 ring and pinion, with the rgb's.
Can't tell how it performs, since I won't be able to install it with my n ew engine until fall...(I'll post more then)
But the communication on the trans was incredible on Kenny's side...He took the time to listen to what I needed, and explained everything he was building in layman's terms so I could understand!

He kept me in the loop every step of the way, busted his ass to get it done when he had problems getting some of the parts (I was only going to be in California for a short time, and did NOT want to pay to ship that bugger) and in general was awesome to work with.
Outstanding customer service...hats off!!

Just ordered a Pro Street Highway Flyer and I'm anxious to get it.
What is the typical turn around on the Trannies?

Thanks,

I sent my transmission to Ken in a box which was foam filled for protection. It was going to get the pro street upgrade. I got a call about 2 weeks later and Ken told me that my transmission was completly destroyed inside. I sent him a perfectly goor stock tranmission out of a 69 beetle which was taken out of a 73 beetle. Come to find out the transmission Ken was talking about was someone elses and that my transmission was sent to Colorado. Hmmmmmm.... I had to wait 2 extra weeks just for a nose cone seal. Hmmmmmm....I was sent a different tranmission that had a bus hockey stick installed, no starter bushing, no stud in the case to mount the starter, not to mention the flimsey box with no padding that it was sent back in caused the tranmission to get beat to death. The cross shaft cable arm was bent over and the cross shaft arms for the t.o. bearing were bent. The studs around the side covers were damaged badly and the nose cone area studs were damaged badly. I was told to send the trans back and it would be taken care of. So I had my Dad pick it up when it was done so there wasn't any other damge. When I got the trans the shifting didn't feel right and the nice shinny side cover had paint over spray on it. Hmmmmmmm.... I was told by Ken then that everything would be fine. So I installed the trans. The reverse gear popped out when used and there is a horrlble bearing noise. The hockey stick for a bus has the linkage securing hole drilled in the wrong place for a bug, so this causes the shift linkage to be out of place. It was left up to me to figure this out on my own. The nose cone area was leaking badly and I was told to use thicker gear oil. Hmmmmmm... I found the machining plugs in the nose cone missing and the reverse light switch leaking. Now that those problems are fixed the trans doesn't leak......The cross shaft was welded with such high heat by Ken that the arms could of been bent off by hand. I was told by Ken that he would build me a new tranmission and send it to me over a month and a half ago. This transmission is in a car I have to drive to work and back every day 100 miles round trip. I have left messages and called day after day with no responce. I now have resorted to buying an other transmission from a more reputable bussiness. Once I get that trans and its is working correctly I'll be sending the old one in for repairs. An other post will follow as to what was wrong. Note: I have been working at the dealer ship level for 29 years. If I still had the trans jig I could of done the job my self and saved a lot of grief. Ken seemed like a good guy in the begining but now it looks like I gave him my money for what.... To keep sending the trans back just to receive it and send it back again....Thanks Ken...... There is probally some things I missed but it won't matter once I get a tranmissions that works correctly.

Thanks Kenny for keeping me up to speed, you got that engine and transaxel done faster than I thought. I admire how patient you are with people that don't come clean and then try to put the blame on you! Anyway keep up the good work!!! =D>
