Somebody to review the car top to bottom? There are a few cars in the west coast I like to buy,but the live in the northeast coast.
Thanks, I would like to buy a rust free VW Beetle. :)

This can be very helpful and can make a buyer feel more comfortable. I do not know of any shippers that offer that service. With that being said I would have a hard time trusting a company to do this unless it was someone like Greg mr. Warehouse who is a reputable and knowledgeable v.w enthusiast that offers shipping services.

Never have the person transporting your vehicle do the
inspection - make the payment - courier the title ..... :!:

If you live clear across the country, do not expect your van or bug
to arrive damage free unless you are willing to pay for that service ....

Another +++ feedback for 4 Corners. Jeff and Ellen are very efficient. Their price was also the lowest moving a Mercedes 230S from Seattle Wa. to Springfield, Or. Yes, they are "brokers" but they communicate well, and seem to have their carriers under control. They were $100 under their nearest competitor on price as well. It's not very often that the lowest price is accompanied by the best red- carpet service, but that was most certainly my experience here. Where the others all flailed, 4 Corners got right down to business and delivered.

Keep in mind: they got my car shipped ON TIME during the Christmas/ New Year's holiday. I recommend this outfit highly. NO flakiness whatsoever!

Hi Guys,
Has anybody had experience of shipping from the San Francisco area to England.
We are taking a family road trip next month in a 71 Bay from Colorado via LA to San Francisco.
We then want to ship our new bus back home to England (around the 5th March).
Any Advice on shippers or brokers would be great.
Thankyou,
Martin

I used DAS three years ago when I was transferred from Seattle to Toronto (car dropped in Elma, NY). I got my 63' bug back with a pushed in bumper, a pulled fender bolt, and scratched fender. I was told the car would be stored indoors and when I arrived to pick it up it was out in the rain with the doors unlocked. It had been there for three days.

Well, now I'm being transferred back to Seattle and I picked up a 62' ragtop bug while I was here. Joe, if I could give you a call when I get my transfer date I would truly appreciate it. It will most likely be around June-August.

I am becoming a frustrated when it comes to the collection of vehicles.

I am overseas and have bought two buses recently and plan at least one more.

Why is it so damn hard to get a bus collected and moved from point A to point B!!

Vehicle movers have such a bad reputation in the US, have any of them stopped to think why? Does this industry even care?

Even though there is such a big recession on clearly they have soo much work they can just be dismissive and rude to clients. I will of spent $$$$ just buying buses over a 2-3 month period

I challenge someone to come to me and show me what they can do!

I have a rolling shell that needs to be moved from the N. East coast to Ohio. Another (driver) from the S.E to New Jersey - I am also trying to source another vehicle right now.

For the record EVERY seller I have dealt with has been great.

Anyways - frustration vented!

Called Joe (CLASSIC CAR GUY) to see about getting a car shipped from Ohio to Calif. They say first impressions are the most important, I talked to him twice and both times he made a great impression.

To the point, very professional and even walked me through what to do making me feel very comfortable. Look forward to doing business with him and getting my NEW vehicle!

Thanks Joe and I will be talking to you soon..........

4 Corners arranged shipping for my bus from California to Georgia. I only had 4 or 5 days to pick it up when I called them. Not only did they find a truck/driver to pick it up the day after I called, but the bus showed up two days earlier than I expected. The drivers were very nice and the bus arrived unscathed. I would use them again. No question.

ducatis Tue Feb 14, 2012 2:19 pm

I have to.say Joe (aka Classic Car Guy) is pretty straight up.
My bus just shipped after a lot of hassle from trying elsewhere....

What is worth remembering is that unless you go direct to a trucker/hauler you probably will not know who will move the bus - in effect it goes out to 'tender'. I guess even Joe might not!

Thankyou once again for your help Joe

I would definitely recommend him

My only lesson was in this case I should of gone for enclosed transport - that was my choice.

I have now shipped two buses this year one a long way across states the other from W.Coast USA to UK. I also spent a lot of time looking at W.Coast Canada to UK but did not go through with it.... I lost out on the purchase because of the delays!!!

If you want to know my experiences drop me an email

I contacted joe as well. I am getting a bus shipped from Ohio to California. I hope to hear something in the next few days. How long did it take for them to find someone to ship?

ducatis Tue Feb 14, 2012 8:50 pm

I emailed him details 4th Feb. - This was approx 940 miles across Northern states into Ohio - a non driver.

The bus I am shipping to UK I did so before speaking with him, that's on the water or ahout to be right now. That also went 750 miles overland. Taken about a month to this point. Expect to sit dockside, particularly with US customs and also if sharing a container

There is an element of luck in timing, the seller being able to work around a hauler who has been desperately waiting for your particular route to complete his - could only take a couple of days or no one is on that route any time soon

I am still after a panel, likely to use Joe again :-)

Hansolo99 Tue Feb 14, 2012 10:48 pm

Well it has been just over a week so I guess it is still early? I guess I am just getting ancy. Mine is also a non driver and is coming from Ohio to SoCal.

I'm getting ready to ship a VW and have got some good info from a company called all day auto transport http://www.alldayautotransport.com

Anyone here done business with them? They have a couple of good reviews onlne but wanted to ask you guys before proceeding.

I had a short window to move in inoperable bus from the Northwest to the Midwest... Angels Moving Autos and John from Muthandi trucking did amazing job. Not the cheapest quote by $100 or so, but excellent communication and way ahead of schedule... took less than 3 days. Couldn't ask for anything more, highly recommended!

glad i can and have helped you guys out, unfortunatly the non-op cars/bus's take a little more time to get moved on the average, not many transporters like to deal with them because there take more work to load and unload. But in the end I do what I can to help the members out as quickly as possible. thanks for the compliments on the cars I got moved and the ones im trying to move currently i'll get it done for you as quickly as I can, thanks again samba members!!

Joe your guys picked up my non op;no brakes 59 euro rag the afternoon I called you! With service like this I wonder how much faster they would be on a running car?
I couldn't be happier with the service, and I will definitely call you again!

thanks and glad it was hassel free , it usually takes a bit longer to move a non-op vehicle but sometimes we can get lucky if theres a transporter right in the area that can handle it.
Over the past few months i have helped about 20+ memebers get there rides and projects moved and shipped, if anyone needs something moved, just call me

I called them about a quote from Daytona Beach, FL to Richmond, VA. I couldn't believe it....$594. So I pounced on it a week later.

They contracted Vitaliy's Auto Transportation to bring it to me. It's a 67 Notch that wasn't running. They picked it up at 9pm on Monday night, by 11am...actually a little before; he called me to come outside!!

I ship stuff everywhere at my work, and I can tell you that we can't get stuff done that quick for that low of a price ANYTIME.

I know she piggybacked on an open trailer and she was on the end, but it was easier for all of us that she came off 1st.

Anyway....4 Corners. Here's their info. They're AWESOME to work with.

After initially going with a carrier that was recommended by the seller, I went on here and read up and went with Joe ( classiccarguy )

I called and gave him a heads-up on my pending deal.
I called and emailed when I was ready for the car to pick up and forwarded the info.

He took the job and arranged the pick up.

I know I drove him nuts as I was ansty and nervous about the whole thing. I've never done this you see.

I did have to follow up with questions. No biggie. He responded timely.

The car was picked up in the morning in Sacramento and arrived the next evening in San Diego (area) about 8pm.

It arrived very clean (despite rain in Sac), undamaged. I drove it into the garage before the driver left ( nice guy btw ) to inspect it under lights. It was legit. The driver seemed to care about the car and it's journey. maybe he was fishing for a tip... lol

All in all, for $375... a good job. Very straight up, to the point, no frills, get the job done well kind of experience.

Btw, I met Joe in person as well as other from this site last night at Mission Beach. Good people.
