Bad electrical portion only. How do you get it at it after removing and drilling out the retainer, is the switch removed from the steering lock and if so, how? Is there access through the instruments or some easier way without removing it, a/c also! A job for the 5/10 technician (me.) What is involved and how is it done? Thanks, John.

Did you take off the anti theft bolts yet? It is possible that the PO has changed the AT bolts. If you look under the dash there is one bolt that holds the switch to the steering wheel lock. You have to take that bolt off. Once you do that the whole thing can be removed. The electric portion is about $65. I did this about 3yrs ago. I think I had to move the tach to keep the bolt from spinning. Its 12:30 now, I'll look at one of my cars in the morning. I can find some links for you in the morning.

I havent had the time to look at my car but go to www.pelicanparts.com do a search under 911 tech

I have a book called "101 projects for your Porsche 911" its by Wayne Dempsey(owner of Pelican) on page 212 it tell you how to do it. Its a very good book. Everyone with a 911 should get it.
