Hi everybody, my family and I are traveling to Europe this summer and we decided to bring our 1969 Westy with us, we will ship it to the UK and will travel to Belgium, Germany,Czech Republic,Austria and France, before heading back to the UK.
What do I need to bring with me or what paperwork will I need to drive legally thru every country?

I have the following:

- Title and current registration under my name
- California's driver licence
- International driver licence thru AAA

Any information will be helpfull.

I will probably sell it before we head back home  , in either France or UK area since shipping it back wouldn't make too much sence.

you will need proof of insurance, normally a green sheet of paper from your insurance company which says on it which countries you're covered for.

let me know if you decide to pass thru' switzerland as well.

.....and Slovenia! The little (but big) country between Austria and Croatia!

If you go to Croatia (HrvojeZD-good friend of mine also) you can stop in Ljubljana (my home city) and if you need anything here PM me and I will help you!

For Slovenia you just need your ID or passport!

interesting.that double bed roof wasn't invented when the bus was built. is it a do-t-yourself add on or a later factory conversion?

i used to have a 72 deluxe which had been converted by westfalia when it was maybe 3 years old.

Belgium Chocolate!! And don't forget To taste the French Fries in Belgium , I know they are called french but trust me taste em over here!

juanjvaladez Mon May 15, 2006 8:45 am

The previous owner installed that later model top, but was not functional and in bad shape, so I located one from a '71 model that opens up the right way for that year, it should be ready this week I'll update the link when it is.

Hello!
Welcome in Europe
If you go in Spain you need 2 triangle of indication if you have some breakdown on the road, and a yellow waistcoat too(in France too)!
For the rest just have a proof of your bus insurance!that is essential here!

If you come in France let me know.......

Have a good travel
