I bought a Pertronix Ignitor model #1847V on eBay. But, when I tried to install it in my 009 vacuum distributor the plates will not go in because the post on which the points pivot is in the way. Where there should be a hole in the plate for this post is one of the threaded studs for securing the module.

A search on the Internet found this:

http://www.bughaus.com/Pertronix_Ignitor_-_1847V.htm
"Fits later style vacuum-advance Bosch distributors (normally found on 1968 and later distributors)."
"This style Ignitor will fit on the later style Bosch vacuum-advance distributors."

The Bosch number on my distributor is: 0 231 137 009

Is my distributor too old to use the Pertronix or, am I missing something obvious?

Thanks,

You have the wrong Pertronix.

Many thanks Glenn (two Ns).

Would you happen to know, and share with me, which module is correct for my distributor?

1849N6 (The N6 denotes negative ground and 6 volts)
1849 is for 12 volts

Glenn,

I am having some issues that relate to the pin, also. I have the 0231 137 021 distributor (just bought it from TASB) but it has a pin like your top photo and the 91847V Pertronix won't fit. Is that pin removable?

I guess you could remove it but the hole is used to locate the module.

Maybe Tim put the wrong breaker plate in... mixing and matching parts.

I'd talk to Tim and see if he can confirm.

He didn't put the wrong one in, it was already there... So he is sending a replacement. Cool.
