I picked up this 59 in July...it came just as the first pics shows...with nothing..no interior, seat headliner...anythign...basically it was shell with hacked up wiring....not much else except for rust....I stipped the car to bare metal in 2 days and then my buddy dave at Shadetree performace put the heater channels back in it for me...and some other panels...including the vents under the rear window which were hacked out...I tackled the quarter panels front a rear as well as other misc welding....Dave also built my 5.5 narrowed beam and it has drop spindles as well...All paint and body work I did myself...as well as all the other suspension stuff....I donated the split case trans to a friend and put in a 67 tranny motor is a 1500 with dual single port carbs...nothing quick..but moves it down the road...I just really wanted to make it a driver... Interior is brick red tmi covers and door panels...3 spoke steering wheel for a early split window...and mohair headliner from wolfsburg west...I also did all the interior work too...seat frames were strippe and repainted etc...so here a few pics..thought I should post them before I sell it for something new to work on....

rear shot..the bumpers were NOS and then the over rider holes were brazed then they were triple chrome plated...og empi bumper bars...also the interior has an og bambus parcel tray...interior pics tonight...I have no recent ones...
Day 1
Day 2
this was just quick shot of Lacquer primer I threw on to protect it before the channels were put it...it was sanded back off and epoxy primer went on a week before it was painted
day after it was sprayed...I had to hang the fender because I lost my free garage space about the same time...so this was just before it was moved I think...
fenders mounted hung the skirts on for fun...got them as a door prize at a show... I think I had just turned the back down in this pic...spent 2 days fighting the damn spring plates, they were stuck....finally laid on alot of heat and was able to beat them off...I think it was about 45 degrees and raining all day...gotta love assembling and car in the driveway...

Awesome!!!
You can be proud of your self!
Nothing compares to the satisfaction of driving a car that you've worked on yourself... let alone a resto like that! |

no doubt thats the best part...but after I drive it for a couple weeks...im ready to pass it on and get some new pile to work on... so this one is up forsale/trade...perferably for a bus...maybe a early type 3... |
