Here's my new ride!
A 1990 Carat (weekender package) that the PO painted cream colored, lifted, and tinted the windows.
My parents bought it as an anniversary present for my wife and I, and we just got it back from the new vehicle tune-up on Friday and spent the weekend driving it around and learning how the various features work.
Does anybody know what kind of bumpers these are? They seem to be power-coated stamped metal but they don't look like the bumpers I've seen on most Vanagons. Maybe a Canadian/Euro thing?
EDIT: I've been informed that these are probably the fiberglass bumpers. I'll check when I get home. |

New to me 1983.5 Westy. It has some issues (like this), but is overall solid and with some IMPRESSIVE history. Bought in Germany (as a US spec, I believe) by someone in the Army, and travelled all over Europe. Then brought over stateside and sold to the second owner, who drove it to Central America, where it spent 10 years in Panama, camping on the canal, etc.
It then came back to Arizona where I found it and bought it. I think I got a good deal, even with the work that it needs to make me feel safe taking the fam on a trip.
My goal is to keep it roadworthy, but not obsess over the cosmetic stuff, and to see if I can add to the long list of adventures he's participated in.
First Outing (short drive, pre-work)
I really need to paint the top, but don't want to lose these

In Norway we cal them Coach bumpers as they were most comonly and first used on the Coach and later on the Carat and Whitestar, Bluestar, Redstar, Limited Last Edition(LLE) and also the frontbumper on the Tristar DOKA. They are glasfiber. Most of the versions they came on also had a 3cm droped suspension |

They are toooo modest. That set up won them the "Coolest Van/Bus " prize award at the 2012 BUS FUSION! Man I don't know how many outside guided tours I gave when they weren't around  Steady stream of people all 4 days! p.s. that's known as the Dog House and it could fit a Great Dane with all four stretched out, and then there is the humougous trailer below and everything folds up so compact!!!! "green eyes here" Nice, go anywhere (all Europe and all UK including wales and the Highlands!) rig,
The orange and yellow tent in the background is a Russian Sauna from the Westy next door to Andy & L's rig. Had a wood burner and a chimney! |

Thread title changed. Frappr went away years ago and this thread has turned into a near free-for-all photo thread (which I'll be cleaning up in time). That being said, this has been added to post #1:
Please make a post showing off your van(s) - include details of it (wheels, paint color, year, engine, etc.), if desired - to associate it with your username. If you wish to obtain details of a van, please PM the owner of said van instead of replying in this thread. Thank you! Edit: To clarify: this isn't the thread to be posting a bunch of various photos of your rides, it isn't to show off your latest modification or your last trip. It's simply to associate a van/transporter with your username (just like the "faces" thread). If you have more than one van, or have added one to your fleet, etc., then post more than once, by all means.
 |

My error; didn't mean for it to sound like you can only post once, ever, in this thread. What I meant (and I've changed the explanation), is that this isn't the thread to be posting a bunch of various photos of your rides, it isn't to show off your latest modification or your last trip. It's simply to associate a van/transporter with your username (just like the "faces" thread). If you have more than one van, or have added one to your fleet, etc., then post more than once, by all means. :D
The map went away long ago and it was time to reflect that fact. You can, of course, still mention where you're located (but if you add that info to your profile, there's no need).
The Bay Window thread of the same nature got the axe yesterday, so be glad this thread is even still here. (I'm sure Glenn is itching to hit the "delete" button on this one. :P ) |

| But Glenn doesn't have a Vanagon/Transporter/Eurovan, so he may be somewhat biased. I think ultimately the specific Moderators and the Super Samba and Jennepher should be responsible to make ultimate decisions. I don't see that Glenn has any say in the Vanagon/Eurovan Forums IF people are following rules and containing themselves to the topics specified by the Thread titles in a specific forum. This has been an issue on more than one occasion. No biase to Glenn but he doesn't have Vanagonitis  |
