Does anyone know where to get a set of these? Saw you guys talking about them in the last subject. I have only seen them once in the classifieds.

I've been looking for these as well keep an eye on swap meets and ebay! I have also given some thought to making my own.

8) Just keep watching. They pop up occasionally. Also, Bodo Schmidt (eBay seller ID is carbuff113 http://motors.search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZcarbuff113 ) has them on eBay quite often. You might want to contact him and see if he has more. If he puts a pair up, be prepared for sticker shock. The last pair I saw him sell went for about $250.

The seller on eBay has an unlimited supply as far as I know. He just goes in cycles between selling them and not selling them. Same story with most of the stuff he sells.

this creates a nice supply and demand situation for the seller.

Yes, I swear he lists stuff until he sees the price drop, then wait a month or 2 and lists them again - prices are high again.

I did clean him out of NOS Type 3 coco mats at once point and I have never seen him list any more.

I dont see them in the link. My friend has an NOS set in the box still i am more then sure he would sell!

Thanks for the replies. I will keep an eye out for them, or do I have to give up an eye for them. Were they an accessory that VW made or was it by an after market company? I suppose they could be made but would need a good picture/s of them with some detail and spec measurements.
The materials probably would be inexpensive just time and trial and error to get it right with a good finish and fit.

Thanks, Kevin C

If he would be willing to part with them, I would be interested depending on price.

Thanks

I may have... at the end. I think we went back and forth winning them at one point. :)

Some day I'll get my '65 notch done and it will go there. I've got a $350K offer on some property we own so if our partners are willing to do it, my wife and I will pocket a small chunk of change. Hopefully, after the bills are paid there will be enough left to finally do my car. [-o<

Just bought a super clean 73 square that had some in it already. Stoked! I wasn't sure what they were at first.

I thought at one time someone on here was going to start making replicas of the originals?

nik Yeah, and someone was going to make pans, someone was going to make dropped spindles and so on.

A year or two ago I thought about making some, however I do not have an original set to replicate. Someone (can't remember who now) was supposed to loan me a set but never sent them. If anyone is willing to part with theirs for a week or two I can try again.
