View original topic: Generator to Alternator conversion kit?

Looking to convert my rail form a generator to an Alt.

Found this in the classifieds,( http://www.evwparts.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=AL82KIT ) seems a bit pricey when I can buy the parts separate for $10 mount, $15 pully etc.

What do you guys think? Are there any better kits out there?

Edit: and how many amps you think I should shoot for? At most I will be running 5 large lights on top, 2 head lights, 2 tail/turn signal lights, a backup light, and possibly a stereo. (Sounds like a lot once I typed it all out.)

i would be more worried about the sound system. that will use more power than anything. A guy who is kinda helping me build my rail said that the alt. would be plenty of juice for anykind of lights i would be running, granted mine is a street rail and i will not have 5 offroad lights and then everything else. but in my opinion you should be fine, correct me if im wrong but i doubt you will be running all of your lights at once. again my main concern would be the power usage of the audio

I wouldn't have ALL of them on at once, but I don't want to have to worry about it. Probably just go with the 75 amp. Might get the one posted above, says it has a 1 year replacement, and if it does die I'll get a Bosch.

Thanks for the input

I can get you a complete conversion set up for around $260 and its a bosh. It comes with alt, alt stand backing plate and alt strap. Take it out of the box install everything and your ready to go
