Hello, I am a new member of TheSamba Forum.
I own a 1971 Volkswagen Van (Type 2).
Some weeks ago, the car was hit in the rear by a SUV. Luckily, only
minor damage was done to the engine compartment lid, but the
lockable handle was crushed by the front bumper of the SUV.
It took me weeks to locate a replacement for it, but the new handle
(an original!) did not come with a gasket. Does anyone have an idea
how and where I could find a gasket for such a lockable handle?

Thank you very much for your response.
Your advice encouraged me to call around again, and - bingo! - I found
a new gasket at a local Volkswagen parts store (Vintage Parts, 6728
San Fernando Road, Burbank, CA, Phone 818 / 500-8778).
