I bought a brand new 70 back in the spring of 70 and it was Yukon Yellow. It was a great car till it wound up under an 18 wheeler

My guess is that all the parts on it wound up in other cars..so for all I know parts of my old car are on some of the cars being used by Samba members.

It was most likely Shantung Yellow, not Yukon Yellow.

It was Yukon Yellow..I remember what I bought and drove off from the dealer...and the color of the car. It was the only yellow color available at the time..and I remember bowing to the wishes of my wife, who loved yellow.

This may help:

Upon further research 1970 was available in Yukon Yellow on sedans.

Thanks..my memory is not gone yet..and as one who was there and actually bought a brand new Yukon Yellow VW in 1970 I hope that the junkyard picture and testimony would be enough, but if you feel that a manufacturer publication validates it then so be it..

At least I know I am not in the Twilight Zone..whew..

Yukon yellow looks really good on 68-70 verts. I wouldn't mind having one to go with my 67 some day.

Hey what color did you paint the jack base?

I painted the jack base with Krylon's Short Cuts hobby spray paint, scs-034 Ocean Blue. I thought it was a close match without going to crazy.
