Dylan,
Push that car out into the driveway. Step back about 20 feet. Then take the picture. It looks to be a very nice car. I'd like to see better pictures. :  Honestly, those pics do not do your car any justice. |

Finally finishing up my major project for the year.
My old engine was getting tired..crankcase endplay, leak at the main bearing at the flywheel as a result of it, oil light flickering unless you use heavy grade oil, but worst of all it was a 68 engine..I have no idea how it got there years ago.
After much searching I found an original 67 engine S/N H0621236 being offered for sale on the Samba. I was told by the seller that this engine has been in storage and not run since the 70s and is in an unknown condition.
I drove 3 hours to pick it up, brought it back and lo and behold it ran on the floor with a test rig pretty much as is from the photo above after an oil change and valve adjustment. On it was installed a 1970 carb, 1970 Dizzy, air cleaner and other bits and pieces so I imagine the last time this engine was seriously worked on was in 1970. No endplay on the crankcase, no leaks, compression was great, and the original muffler was still fine, baffles were good. The black short coil worked great and I decided to reuse it after cleaning it up.
After much trial and tribulation I swapped over all the 67 pieces I have been gathering and using, such as a German Solex 30Pict 1, Distributor, a rebuilt 67 Fuel Pump, and the 67 air cleaner. After much frustration actually have the preheat hoses off the air cleaner properly attached after installing the right tubes and tins underneath the engine.
Here are the after pictures. Small things like fuel hose spring clamps I will attend to as soon as I find some. The Bosch label on the coil I just got last week after finding out where to get one here on Samba.
This is not a perfect 67 engine restoration, but I just wanted to get as close as possible to what was delivered back then.

I've checked the gallery and this forum for a picture of a stock black 67 Deluxe. My friends father had a new 67 when they came out. They are in the process of putting a special gift together for him and are in need of a picture of a stock black 67 Deluxe with no sun roof. If you have one would you please post it and help make a very special gift complete.
Thanks |

now you should have a few minutes to remove screws and rotate the bracket, on your rear apron, so it is not upside down. the 67 posse will be here soon. :D |

Although this was addressed in another forum, it seems only fitting to add these pics to the '67-only forum. Ain't they purty??
And courtesy of Mr. May....
