My relatives that have the 68 911T tried to get it started to move it to my house...
Well, they checked the oil Before trying to start it, and thought it was empty so they put in the max listed on the sticker (7 Quarts) and then started it.
Well, the hose going from the oil filler neck to the air filter was off so it all the oil went out that hose and onto the engine. So I came over Monday - Put the hose onto the air cleaner and started it up hoping that the oil was back to a normal level.
I guess it was not because oil then went into the filter and then drained out of the bottom of the filter where I found that the hose that goes into the case below the passanger side carbs was not hooked to the air cleaner and had been plugged with a screw.
So here is my question - First let me say that I dont currently know anything about these motors:
1. Is the oil supposed to be going into the filter - Meaning is this an oil bath system?
2. The hose that is supposed to be hooked to the botom of the air filter - is that just a crankcase vent?
3. Is the only way to check the oil level when the motor is running? |

| The oil is checked with a dipstick that is in the oil tank. Normally, it is checked with the engine running & at operatiing tempature. This is a dry sump system. I would drain the tank & the sump & start over. NO!!! the oil should not be going to the air cleaner. You are also going to need to clean the oil out of the air filter housing & replace the air filter. Tom |

Ok - Not a problem...
What about the hose that is meant to go to the bottom of the filter - crankcase vent? |
