I'm posting this for a friend of mine. He has a 79 Rabbit pick up that needs rear shocks. Supposedly, they are very hard to find. Does anyone know where to get a set? Tried a VW dealer, but they weren't too helpful. I was told that KYB and Boge might still make them.

My source says that KYB's are still available.
Part # KG5449.
We have also found Monroe's previously- but might be just remaining stock. |

IIRC certain volvo station wagon rear shocks will work. Also rear Air shocks for a 68 corvette are a popular upgrade though they require minor modification to the shocks themselves.
I will look into this further |
