I just purchased a 1980SC. The engine generally runs tight and strong. Twice now it I have been sitting at a stoplight when suddenly the idle goes down to about 400 and burnt oil smoke starts POURING out of the exhaust. When the light turns, it takes about 30 seconds, but the engine then seems to return to normal. Other than my hot start problem (different issue, I think) this thing runs like an champ. Any ideas?

Hi.
new to samba.
First congrats on the purchase!
Now that type of oil burn could be from over filling your oil.
Remember to check oil when the car is warm and at idle and on level ground.
if you check the oil when the car is off you oilstick will always come back dry or on the way low side. |
