hello everyone, I've just had my 74 std painted and I want to keep the dash pad off. does anyone know of a kit or where I could maybe get some plastic covers to go in the extra holes. I don't want to weld them or bondo them shut just something to cover the holes? thanks

I have not seen anybody selling something specific to cover those holes. Do you have an Ace Hardware store or something similiar? The Ace store I have has lots of plugs in many sizes that you could make work and look clean. They have rubber ones that might require some trimming but you could make them look good.

if youre at all adept you can make some out of fiberglass resin

Yep, check out an ACE or other hardware store. Something other than plugs could be those bolts for bumpers. Nice and shiny, and you can bolt them on then take them off if you ever want to put a pad back on. I've even seen a few cars with dummy switches. Get creative.

i removed dash pad, the fresh air system in my 72 super and the brake warning light and to cover the holes i use bolts with big washers on both sides. really mordern and neat looking i think

ok, I made this thread a long time ago, and I did end up shaving my dash, I went to my local hardware store and found some various sizes of plastic plugs (some in the picture are metal) i then painted them the same color as the car, popped them in and walla... shaven dash, without ruining the dash... the defrost vents, i just cut off the top part and popped them in (be careful not to cut off handle) and the air vent (below the defrost vent) lines up just right

sorry I dont have any better pics
