My parents own a 2002 jetta tdi. They have been experiencing a problem with the electrical system and automatic transmission. When driving from 0-40 mph. it feels like the transmission is slipping. The car will propel itself when changing gears, and 40 mph auto shifting is okay.
The electrical system has been malfuctioning. Sometimes the alarm will sound when simply exiting the car. The odometer will reset, the clock resets, lights will dim with an electrical clicking sound.
I have read about an electronic regulator somewhere around the driver side floor board. I am not sure if the 2002 tdi has the regulator and if this is a factor? Is there a common fix with this type of issue?
