I'm getting the runaround here :(
Here's the dream;
Buy a good Split camper in CA and drive it eastwards - foolhardy maybe, but something I've always wanted to do. There's at least one on here that is *perfect* for me, but I can't see movement this side of Christmas...
Buying isn't much of a problem (I imported my 71 Ghia easily enough) but INSURANCE... As soon as I mention USA the sales people in England go cold on me "I can do you downtown Bagdhad at good rates sir, but sorry we don't cover the USA"
What would anyone recommend - any US brokers give cover to non-US residents? I can always give a friends home address as a base in US if needs be?

hello,
spent 2 months in our Bay window last year (we are from the UK) in cali.....interetsing time a bit different from what i expected!!! But still fun...
For insurance the best bet is join the AAA , they are like the UK AA but 100% better. They helped us sort insurance (among many other things -DMV, maps, break cover down etc) , it was high ($7 per day)as you are a high risk person as they do not know your driver history.
Hope it helps, PM me for more info if needed.
