| Looking for suggestions on 912 engine conversion. Thinking about T4 or or 914 2.0 liter. Want the simplest bolt right up conversion. I realize that the engine tin for whichever conversion I go with will need to be fabricated, but what else is involved ? eg rear engine mount adaptation ect. Looking for more power, yet reliability for an eventual daily driver. Is there any printed literature out there on these types of conversions ? If so please let me know. 912 is 1969 long wheel base vehicle, and should have a 1835 up and running in it soon. Thanks in advance. |

The Type 4 IS the same as a 914 engine.
The 76 912E came with a 2.0l Type 4 engine in it. So if you can find all the correct tin, it could be a very "factory" looking install. |

Go to
http://shoptalkforums.com
This site is packed with information for you to digest. Start at either "The Type 4rum" or "Aircooled Technology".
Jake Raby of Aircooled Technology is the one to go to when it comes to the Type IV.
Good luck!!! |

Also looks great to install a type 4 with the DMT fan, dual throttle bodies etc on a 2056cc or larger motor.
How much hp you looking for?
You will probably also need to change the gears ratios in the tranny as they are set up for the high reving stock motor vs the low end torque of a type 4 motor. |

I have all the conversion parts one needs for the 912, EXCEPT the engine mount bar... DTM, exhaust, sealing tins and the works..
The mount bar is next on the list. |
