Just picked up a 73 911T that has been sitting in someone's garage for 20 years. The engine needs an overhaul and the seals and paint are getting scheuduled for a refresh.
A couple of the Fuch rims are quite scratched and the paint is tired. Does anyone have a recommendation for polishing the surface to get the nicks and scratches out? |

It is a very involved job to fix those scratches. The scratches are in the anodizing. First you must remove the tires. Then strip the paint all off. Then strip the anodizing using oven cleaner.
Once you have the wheels down to bare aluminum, begin sanding. Depending on how bad they are, start with either 240 grit or 320 grit. Follow each grit with the next finer sandpaper, removing the scratches from the previous sandpaper. Go all the way up to 1500 grit. Then polish the tops of the spokes and the lip.
When you are finished polishing, take them to a shop that does anodizing and get them anodized. When that is done, paint the backgrounds.
Should take a couple of hours for the set  |

| Thanks for the details. I'm looking forward to some beautiful wheels. |
